Exercise your body & your mind
Mindful-Pilates

Spend the afternoon exercising your body and your mind with Mindful practices and a Pilates Mat Class.

Cultivating a more mindful way of being is associated with less emotional stress, more positive states of mind, and better quality of life.  In addition, mindfulness practice can influence the brain, the autonomic nervous system, stress hormones, the immune system, and health behaviors, including eating, sleeping and substance use.

This is the perfect workshop for those:

  •  Interested in learning more ways to protect your brain from the negative impact of chronic pain, aging, stress, depression, and other challenging life experiences.

  • Missing out on the simple joys in life due to stress, worry or a busy mind.

  • New to Pilates or Mindful movement but would like to enhance their mind-body connection.

What participants have said about the Mindful-Pilates Workshop:

"Brought me back into my body & helped me to continue learning mindfulness.  The combination of Pilates and Mindfulness was spectacular - I had never done Pilates before I and look forward to learning and exploring.  Showed me a new experience.  Thank you."

"I usually drive all the way to Spirit Rock for my mindfulness studies.  I like the idea of having something to attend closer. I am wondering why more exercise classes don't integrate "mindful ideas" and practice.   You are definitely on to something!  Thank you for such a relaxing afternoon!"

"Sense of calm in my hectic life.  Much needed "time out".  I always enjoy meeting others who share in the quest of life/health improvement..."

Mindful practices assist us in quieting the mind, tapping into the body’s wisdom, and in opening the heart.  Tanya T. Wiser, LCSW is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in the integration of mindfulness practices & psychotherapy practices.  Tanya will introduce mindfulness concepts and facilitate mindfulness exercises during this workshop.  The ideas and skillful practices that will be shared are designed to easily translate into helping you in your everyday life.  For more information about the positive benefits of mindfulness on the body, and the brain, please view "did you know?" page.

Whether its Pilates, or another form of exercise, physical fitness is imperative to longevity, changing unhealthy body patterns, and reducing chronic pain.  Being able to connect mind and body while you exercise generates positive results faster.  Understanding the mind-body connection facilitates the development of healthy body actions into daily routines. Allison Gonzalez is a Certified Pilates Instructor and the Owner of Purely Pilates Studio in San Carlos.  During the Mindful Living Workshop, Allison will introduce you to Pilates and lead you through the basic Pilates mat exercises.  To learn more about Pilates visit www.purely-pilates.com
